Up for it were
Darkside, Brolly, Where’s Brolly (Curry only), Yup, Granpop Bill, Keithee, Huge, Pedro, DC, Turk, Bolt, Jacko, Goosey, JayCee and Anytime Tone.
The lads from Stoke changed at Crewe where impressive sausage rolls were bought by some on platform 5. After hobbling with his damaged achilles from platform 5 to 8 DC found that only vegan pies were available. Goosey came to his rescue, running back over the bridge to get him a proper one. What a martyre.
Brolly and Darkside meanwhile waited patiently on a bench by the level crossing at Nantwich station for the 13.27 from Crewe to arrive with a cargo of Squarrites; ready to visit the Market town of Nantwich famed for its high concentration of listed buildings and some fine ale houses. 2 minutes later they came sauntering along in a leisurely manner and after minor pleasantries and the now accepted shaking of hands we made our way to the Leopard “Beer club”.
Next on the list after a pleasant walk was Ebenezer craft bar. This caused some confusion with Squarrites, as ¾ pint was offered for the same price as a pint. The Salopian was offered for the “pint” guys, whereas the more refined Squarrites went for the ¾ pint of Verdant @4% The payment card took a battering before we moved on at 2.30 to the Crown Hotel. Nice surroundings and a good beer selection including Beartown and Solopian. A stalker appeared who had been tracking the Squarrites around the town; namely Christine Hayes an old colleague from Stoke City Council. She was warmly welcomed into the group for the rest of the evening.
As we were sat on reserved tables we had to move on to The Vine. A fine selections of Hydes beers were on offer at a happy hour price before 5.30. As we were all comfortable with pleasant, cheap beer we stopped for another. DC and Goosey opted to move on however to sample the craft ales at the next pub; Six Bar.
The rest of the group followed for the last 30 minutes for a swift ½. At 5.25 the group made it’s way to the Naaz. On the way a car came speeding past and Brolly remarked that he’d just had a car like that, only for it to be Mrs Brolly and Mrs Darkside collecting their take a way.
The curry was served in good time for us to leave the restaurant at 7.00 for a leisurely walk back to the station in various groups. Except one mystery what happened to Huge?
